HI Everyone,

Not long now until the bowls season starts and we hope you will be joining us for the 2024 season.
Lots of important information will be coming your way in the next couple of weeks.

Membership Afternoon

Tuesday 19th March 2024
From 2pm – 4pm with a short briefing at 3pm

Between these times you can pay your bowls club membership and choose internal competitions to enter.

Full Membership £100
Social membership £20

You can also enter the weekly Bonus Ball Draw if you so wish. £20 for the year

Payments can be made with cash, a cheque or by bank transfer.
Cheques are made payable to Fordbridge Park Bowls Association

Lina Reeves is our new membership Secretary and she will be at the meeting. If you cannot make the meeting then please contact Lina via email, text or phone.

Starting from this year we are compiling a list of emergency contact numbers for members.
If you could email these details directly to Lina asap as it will help with the admin. Thank You

Very Short Mat Bowls Evening

Event – Very Short Mat Bowls pairs competition on Thursday 28th March 2024 – in the clubhouse

Please arrive by 5.45pm so that games can commence by 6.00pm

For this event I will need 20 players to sign up to play by 19th March. I will then make the draw for the pairs teams which I will try to make as fair as possible.

The 10 pairs team will then be drawn into two leagues (A and B) of 5 teams. Each team will then play 4 games (a game will consist of 3 ends with each player using only 2 bowls. Two points will be awarded for a win and one point for a draw.

In the event of two teams finishing top of the league with the same amount of points then the team that scored the most shots will be the winner of that league.

The winner of A league will then play the winner of B league in the final. The final will consist of 4 ends with each player using only 2 bowls. In the event of a draw one more end will be played.

Please remember this event is nothing too serious, the idea is to have a bit of pre-season fun. Spectators are warmly welcome to come along to cheer or barrack the players. If you would like to play please message John and let him know asap – only 20 spaces available.

The kitchen will be open between 6-8.30pm for pre-ordered food. Bacon or sausage in a roll at £2 each or Cheese toasties at £1.50. Crisps and Cake.
Please let Sue know if you will be requiring food which must be pre-ordered from Sue by Monday 25th March.

Can you help?

There has been a single Christmas card pinned to the U3A notice board in the clubhouse for some time now. Does anyone know who pinned it to the board and where did they find it?
If you can shed any light on this please contact me. We then might be able to solve a mystery. All will be revealed then.
