Our Green

There has been a fair amount of discussion recently about the current condition of our green. Whilst James is doing his best, we need to assist him in his maintenance programme or we are wasting our money.

None of us are perfect, and our heavy woods will naturally have a detrimental effect on our infant green, beyond just wear and tear. Woods can cause scarring and divots (fact), the result is a worsening playing surface.

It has been agreed by the committee that the following practice (possibly with an odd tweak) will be employed for the remainder of this month (August), giving our young grass more time to mature and better root itself. Especially important if our inclement weather persists.

Actions:

* nets to be used for all roll ups and general play

* north / south to be used for all play with the exception of ‘friendly’ club and SML fixtures which will use east / west. Rink colour rotation will continue.

* all members to; keep away from edges, repair divots and craters (even if they are not your own)

* see it, fix it!

Any questions relating to this change please direct to me in the first instance.

Here’s to a successful and enjoyable August and September!
